The Basics

What is Creativity?

An ability individuals possess that allows them to develop new and imaginative ideas regarding processes, products or materials.

What is Creative Thinking?

Creative thinking is the capacity to generate many different kinds of ideas, manipulate ideas in unusual ways and make unconventional connections in order to outline new possibilities that have the potential to elegantly meet a given purpose.

Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER)

Torrance's Four Elements of Creativity

  • Number of new ideas - Creative Fluency

  • Variety of creative ideas - Creative Flexibility

  • Uniqueness of ideas - Originality

  • Details of ideas - Elaboration

Why is Critical Thinking important?

In a VUCA world, characterized by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity, our work demands that we come up with creative solutions to diverse problems quickly. Developing our Creative Thinking will help us to find more and better solutions, by pushing us to explore new points of view and create connections and adaptions that were previously invisible to us.
